Ruth, Ms. Betty E. Age-69 passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm Friday, June 19, 2015 from the New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church 1035 E. Carpenter Rd. Elder Patrick Sanders Sr. officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30 am for visitation. Ms. Ruth will repose in the Chapel of the Martin J. Banks Funeral Home and may be viewed from 8am until 8pm Thursday.
Ms. Betty E. Ruth was born June 19, 1945 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of Isaac Ruth and Bertha Mae Roberson Darrough. Ms. Betty was educated in Arkansas and was a graduate of Coleman High School “Class of 1964”. She attended Mott Community College and Baker College in Flint. She was a longtime, devoted member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church where she served faithfully with the Security In Ministry and formerly sang with the Inspirational Voices. Betty worked as a cosmetologist, a seamstress, and yet she was a stylistic woman of many talents who enjoyed putting on plays and fashion shows. She loved spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, photography, cooking and fishing. Her community service included being an Order of the Eastern Star member, Elks Lodge member, and also a member of the Oasis Trucking Club of Saginaw, Michigan. Ms. Betty Ruth leaves in God’s care: daughter, Tanisha Ruth of Fort Worth, Texas; god daughter who she raised, Cynthia (Gerald) Walker of Shreveport, Louisiana; sister, Louise (Harold) Thomas of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; 2 brothers, Leroy Hardin of Memphis, Tennessee and Edward (Ola) Darrough of Little Rock, Arkansas; father of her children, Theodore Ruth, Sr. of Clio, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including long time sister friend, Sue Ballard, Cynthia Reeves, Derryl Evans, Para Nelson, Joyce Bah, Frances (Aonie) Gilcreast, Cloyce Dickerson, Marva Johnson of Flint, Dorothy Burks of Meridian, Mississippi; a host of godchildren, god sisters, and god brothers.
Ms. Betty Ruth was preceded in death by: son, Theodore Ruth, Jr.; mother, Bertha Mae Roberson Darrough; father, Isaac Ruth; grandparents, Daniel and Lula Harrell Roberson; brother, JC Jones, Jr.; nephews, Kenneth Hence and Edward Darrough, Jr.; aunts, Annie B. Roberson, Queenie Williams, Ruby James Scott, Emma L. King, Irene Henderson and Viola Roberson; uncles, Willard Eugene, Jerry Daniel, Edgar and Ivy Roberson.
The family would like to express special thanks to: A Plus Hospice, Dr. Khalid M. Ahmed, Dr. Ahmed Akl, Dr. Rizwan Danish, Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute Staff, Elder Patrick and Ann Sanders and New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church Family and special cousin Peggy Williams.
