SCHON, Robert – Of Flint, age 80, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich.
Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Cremation has taken place.
The family will welcome visitors Friday, May 18, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. and 12 noon Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral
home.
Bob was a very loving, willful, determined man who was never afraid to go against the grain to fight for important causes. He was strong-minded and often tenacious. Thankfully these same attributes live on proudly in every one of his offspring.
He was born in Marquette, Michigan on March 5, 1932, to Peter and Pearl (Bernard) Schon.
He married Mary Saxton on June 14, 1952 in Flint and later Sue Ann Parks Connolly.
He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are children, Mike and Betty Schon of New Berlin, WI,
Rick and Delaine Cook of Lexington, KY,
Russ and Val Schon of Dunedin, FL,
Cathy and George Blazier of Arden, NC,
Dan and Crystal Schon of Clio, MI,
Denise and Tony Hufford of Waterford, MI,
Dave and Colleen Schon of Grand Blanc, MI,
Steve and Nicci Schon of Mason, MI,
Richard and Terry Schon of Orlando, FL.
Bob was loved and adored by his 29 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren;
and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sue Ann Connolly and sister, Clarice Walther
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the University of Michigan-Division of Pulmonary, c/o Ros Florn, 3916 Taubman Center, 1500 E. Medical Center Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48109-0360.
