TAUNT, Russell George "N8ZBH" passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the age of 87. He was born to the parents of John and Myrtle Taunt on May 6, 1932. Russ was the youngest of nine children. All of his siblings and parents have preceded him. He attended Central High School, and soon was drafted to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. Russ married Loretta Horton on November 10, 1956. He was a man of faith and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Flint for over 65 years. Russ retired from Michigan Bell/AT&T, after 30 years of service. He then went to work at EDS for 10 years before his final retirement. Russ was a member of the Amateur Radio Emergency Service and volunteered using his Ham radio as a weather spotter; search and rescue team. For over 25 years he could always be found at the top of Bradley Hills during the CRIM race, with his Ham radio ready to assist, he also volunteered for 6 years at the West Side Flint Police Station and West Flint Community Watch. Russ enjoyed traveling with his RV and spending 18 winters going west and camping along the Colorado River. He is survived by his wife, his son, Russell Ryan and his daughter-in-law Sabrina. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place, no service is being held. Burial will be private at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
