Age: 56
Community: Shawnee, KS

Gary Wayne Osborne, loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle and grandfather, of Shawnee, Kansas formerly of Burton, Michigan, left this life to meet Jesus on Wednesday July 27. Gary was born on 7/8/1960 to Jimmy Osborne and Charlotte Osborne in Flint, MI and resided in Burton throughout his childhood. His young life was filled with love and family, growing up with his sisters on Belsay road. He was an intelligent and inquisitive young man that liked to learn and know how things worked, enjoyed being outside and was a lifelong and disciplined runner. Gary graduated from Atherton High in 1978, went on to Olivet Nazarene University for two years then transferred to University of Michigan Flint, where he got his degree. He also studied for some time. Masters of Manufacturing Technology at Kettering. He hired in at Fisher Body Grand Blanc in 1985 working there for several years, and for a time serving the membership of local 1292 as committee man. Gary was a good union man. He transferred to Fairfax Assembly in Kansas City, MO and worked there before retiring this year. Gary was a Journeyman WEMR/electrician and had a reputation as a knowledgeable and innovative employee. After retiring from GM he went to California and contributed his know how to the Tesla automobile company for a short time before realizing that being that far from the ones he loved was not for him. Gary and his first wife Sue raised two lovely, sweet daughters in Kansas. Gary enjoyed his girls and loved fatherhood. He made it a priority to be there for them and help in any way he could. Gary met and fell in love with Darby, who became his wife on October 26th 2009. They enjoyed a shared interest in fitness and spent many happy times together. When they were together you could see how much they cared for each other. He loved to go places. He took several long distance bike trips in some very beautiful places in this country and did a fair amount of hiking. Anything that involved the use of his healthy body was fine with him. He took a trip to India and enjoyed it immensely. He just liked to be on the move and keep busy as much as possible. Gary loved The Lord and made a commitment when he was a teenager. He lived by a code of doing the right thing and he recognized where his blessings came from. His daughter Amanda gave birth to his grandson, Case. Gary was thrilled with him. He loved spending time with him. You could see the joy in his eyes when he spoke of Case. He is survived by his wife Darby Chambers Osborne, daughters Amanda Lynch (Andrew), Sara Newell (Andrew), grandson Case Lynch, sister Debbie Crank and husband Ron, sister Vicki Blakemore and husband Jim, mother and father Jimmy and Charlotte Osborne, nephews Justin Tatum, Nathan Blakemore and Trevor Crank. Nieces Emily Munroe (Joe) and Leah Swain (Jon), along with aunts and uncles and cousins and friends that he loved dearly. Visitation at Hill Funeral Home, south Saginaw St. Grand Blanc from 12-8 pm Wednesday the 3rd of August and the funeral service will also be at Hill on Thursday at 2 pm. This man made a positive impression on everyone he met, he had sweet spirit and a fine sense of humor. To say he had a zest for life is an understatement. He got all that he could get out of every experience. He never hesitated to speak and show his love to his family and friends. Simply put, he was as fine a person and as kind a person that you'd ever want to meet. He is loved beyond what words can express and will be missed always.
