PETERSEN, Renate Elfriede (Gundlach) – of Burton, MI, age 87, passed away Friday, November 1, 2019. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-1 PM Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following the service.
She was born Renate Elfriede Gundlach on the island of Sylt, Germany in the North Sea on January 17, 1932. Renate married Henry Meinhard Petersen in 1951 and was a resident of Burton, MI for over 50 years. She was an award winning gardener, master seamstress, photographer, swimmer and talented painter with oil and on fine china. A devoted wife, loving mother and fabulous homemaker she never sat without a project in her hands. Renate created many beautiful garments, cross stitch, fine cuisine and elaborate pastries to share with all whom she loved. For years, she lead and hosted her ladies golf league at Brookwood Golf Club and bowled in numerous local bowling leagues. She is loved and remembered by many.
Renate is survived by her loving husband, Henry; daughter, Diana (Tim) Tucker; 4 grandchildren, Andrew (Pam) Tucker and Eleah (Kyle) Hoover; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Frank Henry Petersen and family in Germany.
