Henry “Hank” Oginsky
Age 81 of Lennon passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
A mass of Christian burial will be held 11am Friday, December 28, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. David Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8pm and Thursday from 10am to 8pm with a rosary prayed at 7pm.
Henry was born March 1, 1931 in New Lothrop, the son of Bronish and Lillian (Holodnak) Oginsky.
He graduated from Northwestern High School in Detroit, class of 1949. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and UAW local 599 where he served as financial secretary.
Henry married Lorraine Marie Shedlock on February 11, 1950 in Flint.
He was employed for 42 years with General Motors; retiring in 1991.While there he became a shop committee man and later financial secretary for the Union. He loved farming and operated the family farm for many years.
Christmas was Hank’s favorite time of year and loved playing Santa Claus. He was a great helper of people and an advocate for people in need. He was a firm believer in education and made sure his children received one.
Henry is survived by his children Theresa (Michael) Rumisek of New Lothrop, Ruth (Ed) Rivette of Lennon, Shirley (dec’d) (Harold) Mayer of Flint, Lorrie Kuchar of Haslett, Judy Oginsky of Owosso; (dec’d) (Hank) Anita Oginsky of Owosso; David (Linda) Oginsky of Lennon, Kate (Don) VanLoon of Haslett, Thomas (Ingela) Oginsky of Ann Arbor and Joyce (Mark) Bryant of Virginia; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his wife Lorraine; grandchildren Rebekah, Joseph, Nehemiah, Martina, David and Isaac Jackson; sister Jean Puskas; brother Daniel Oginsky.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
