COUGHLIN, Mary – of Davison, age 91, passed away March 19, 2017 at Genesee Care Center. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday, March 23, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Kenneth F. Coughlin and Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski concelebrating. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-3 & 5-8 PM Tuesday and 10 AM – 3 PM & 5-8 PM Wednesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Divine Mercy Chaplet will be prayed at 3 PM Tuesday and Wednesday. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Tuesday. A Scripture Service will be held at 7 PM Wednesday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seminarians, checks payable to the Diocese of Lansing Seminary Fund.

Mary was born in St. Louis, MI on April 18, 1925, daughter of the late James and Agnes (Benes) Miller. She lived in the Davison area for over 60 years. Mary married Charles Coughlin on August 17, 1946 in Shepard, MI and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2008. She graduated from Central Michigan College of Education now known as Central Michigan University. Mary was a faithful member of St. John Catholic Church, she was the first Regent for the D of I Circle #1095, and was active in the PREP program at St. John Catholic Church. She was also an active member of Our Lady of Fatima (Blue Army). Mary started and was committed to the fund raising Seminarian dinner for the past 33 years. Mary was given the Irish Mother of the Year award in 1994 from the Ancient Order of the Hibernians of which she and Charles were members. Mary was employed by the LakeVille, Davison and Holy Rosary Schools as a teacher.

Mary is survived by her children, Alice Yelen of Fenton, James (Shelia) of Bonita Springs, FL, Stephen of DeWitt, Ann (Gary) Frakes of Sebring FL, David (Maria) of Garden City, Thomas (Tammy) of Swartz Creek, Joseph (Venus) of Davison, Mary Jane Urioste of Davison, Charles of Flint, Rev. Fr. Kenneth of Clio, Susan Coughlin of Davison and Karen (Jack) Whittaker of Brighton; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Wenzel (Annie) Miller; sister, Rosa Coughlin; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Tara Coughlin; great-granddaughter, Angel Mary Yelen. The family is grateful to the Pines of Burton, Genesee Care Center and all others for their love and support to our mother during this difficult time.
