Barbara A. “Bubba” Elk of Flushing, age 74, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at North Flushing Baptist Church, 7500 W. Mt. Morris Road, Flushing. Pastor Dale Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of the service Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. Barbara was born in Flint, MI on December 12, 1937, the daughter of Floyd and Theresa (Jozsa) Elk. She enjoyed working at Flushing Cleaners where no one was ever a stranger to her. She talked to anyone and everyone. She frequented the A&W, Kathy’s, Bueche’s, Subway and Little Caesar’s. Her second home was Owosso. She enjoyed Bingo and playing cards and her hobbies were eating and relaxing.
Barbara is survived by: two sisters, Kathy Elk “Kato” “Aunt Cat” of Flushing, Rosa and husband Vincente Ramirez of Imlay City; legal guardian “like our Mom” to the Jozsa children, Christine and husband Robert LaBerge and their family, Heather, Noel and wife Kim and their son, Cylus “Bug”, Karen Jozsa and Mary Smith, Sharon Jozsa and fiancé Johnny Papcun, Michelle Jozsa, Jane Jozsa, Gregory Jozsa; nieces and nephews of the Ramirez and Slovak family; special friends, Leota Robertson and Virgie Warren; beloved pet, Joey. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Theresa and Mary; brother, Floyd Jr.; nephew, Frankie; and her favorite pets, Brownie, Dreyfus Lee Fairchild, Smokey Joe, Freckles and Olivia. |
