SHOENS, Emery G. Jr. “Dan” – of Harrison, formerly Clio, age 78, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Covenant Health Care – Cooper Campus of Saginaw. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2PM Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 12PM until the time of service at 2PM.
Dan was born June 23, 1937 in Flint, Michigan to the late Emery G. Sr., and Mildred (Martin) Shoens. He graduated from Clio High School in 1955. Dan married Kay Ringler on June 26, 1971 at Bethany United Methodist Church in Clio. Mr. Shoens retired from Buick on October 1, 1999 with over 30 years seniority and was a member of the UAW local # 599. He was a past member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Clio. Dan was very involved with the Montrose football program for over 20 years. He enjoyed spending time on the lake, boating, ice fishing, puzzles and reading. Dan was an avid U of M and Detroit Lions football fan.
Surviving are: Wife, Kay Shoens of Essexville; 2 grandsons: Kyle and Tyler Shoens of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; Sister, Cynthia DeYoung of Grand Rapids; Sisters in law: Dottie Peters of Clio and Dorothy Sundeen of Lansing; Many cousins, nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.
