FITCHETT, Gerald F., Sr. – Of Flint, age 98, died Friday, October 5, 2012 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Steve Wood officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of the Marine Corps League Flint Detachment #155 Honor Guard.
Those desiring may make contributions to Behcet's Foundation or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Fitchett was born in Caseville, Michigan on February 10, 1914.
In 1934 he married Leona Loosemoore.
He served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.
Mr. Fitchett was in the used car business for many years in the Flint area.
Surviving are two sons, Gerald and wife Shirley of Swartz Creek,
Ronald and wife Linda of Swartz Creek;
grandchildren, Gerald III, Randal and wife Janet, Kimberly, Kerry and husband Steve Irving and Tammy;
great-grandchildren, Randal, Jr. and wife Stephnie, Cory and Abigail Rose;
sister, Joyce Tuuri of Grand Rapids;
brother, Robert and wife Donna of Applegate, Michigan;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona.
