CHURCH, Robert Lawrence. – of Clio, age 83, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, August 28, 2015 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Mr. Bill Thomason officiating. Burial to follow in Thetford Township Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 4PM until 8PM and Friday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM.
Robert was born July 22, 1932 in Flushing, MI to the late Fred and Vera (Coil) Church. Mr. Church served in the security branch of the U.S. Air Force as a cryptographer during the Korean War. He married Lula Lawson December 31, 1995 in Angola, Indiana. Robert was a member of Bristol Road Church of Christ. He retired as a supervisor from GM. His two great loves were his family and his Lord. Roberts's faith was infectious and the joy he had for his family was boundless.
Surviving are: Wife, Lou Church of Clio; 3 daughters: Karen (Derrick) Hassell of Clio, Denise (Bill) Whitcraft of Grand Blanc and Connye Lovin of Clio; 4 grandchildren: Eric Whitcraft (Jacqueline Roberts) of Rochester, Tristin (Natalie) Hassell of Flint, Lindsey (Michael) Koch of Ohio and Troy (Shelby) Hassell of Flint; 2 great-grandchildren: Eloise and Miryam; special family friend Mike Lee; 2 brothers: Wayne (Gerri) Church of Florida and David (Helen) Church of Flushing; 8 sisters: Virginia Calloway of Mt. Morris, Thelma Clark of Cadillac, Dorothy Yambrick of Novi, Eleanor Gruner of Florida, Carol (Don) Moore of Swartz Creek, Janet Edwards of Flushing, Linda (Dick) Tarrant of Houghton Lake and Sandra Bissell of White Lake. Robert was preceded in death by: Son, Robert Lawrence II; Daughter, Jean Marie; Brothers: Fred and Herbert; Sisters: Doris Munsey of Gaylord, Joyce Sewell of Gaylord and Jeanine Ferrier of Columbiaville.
