Merrell, Diane – Of Flint, age 86, died Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held 1:30pm Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Jack Loudermilk officiating.
Visitation 12pm Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
After a long life of service, God has called Diane Merrell (Icke) to join her husband, Reverend Richard L. Merrell, and family who has gone before to their heavenly home. Born to Edith and Sydney Icke in 1938in Flint and lived here much of her life. She married Richard at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in 1958. They each graduated from Central High School. She graduated from Mott Community College in 1960and later from Normandale Community College in 1976 as a nursing student. They joined their colleague in Christ through the Church of the Nazarene in Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota and New Mexico. Diane also joined a centuries old family calling to nursing, and in senior years as a valuable chaplain Eastside Church of the Nazarene as well as Genesee County Jail and The Red Cross.
Surviving are brother, George Icke, daughter, Ellen Merrell McComb (Max), son Matthew Merrell (Jenise), daughter, Elizabeth Paulson, son, John (Debbie) Merrell and daughter, Martha Mary Merrell (Kurt).
By God’s grace, she also leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
