WHEELER, Murl Jay - Age 93, of Sterling Heights formerly of Davison, died Sunday, March 8, 2020. Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Minister Ben Porter officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 PM and Thursday from 11:30 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Murl was born June 22, 1926 in Wayne, MI the son of Howard Harvey and Rhea Louise (Squire) Wheeler. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He married Norma Jean Williams August 29, 1944 in Wayne, MI. He was a retired meat cutter and manager working for A & P, Kroger's, and Hamady Brothers and after he retired he worked for Innsbrook Country Club in Tarpon Springs, FL. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Davison and Spring Hill, TN.
Surviving are: his wife of 75 years, Norma; his daughters, Carol (John) Dwyer of Macomb and Laura (David) Wayman of Franklin, TN; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Halligan of Edmonds, WA, Sara (Erik) Amerman of Chapel Hill, TN, Jennifer (Marty) Winston of Sterling Heights, Katherine (John) Monk of Spring Hill, TN, and Michael Dwyer of Macomb; and 8 great grandchildren, Nathan, Justin, Dawson, Haylee, James, Jared, John Wyatt, and Jayce; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ronald, Howard, Lyle, Carl, Marjorie, and his twin infant brother, Veryl. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes. |
