DICKIE, Marie Estelle (Swarthout) – of Davison, MI, age 75, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 5 PM Friday, March 29, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. The family will receive visitors 4-5 PM Friday, March 29, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Marie’s memory.
Marie was born in Flint, MI on June 5, 1943, daughter of the late Clifford and Stella (Woityra) Swarthout. She was one of the first women to be trained in the skilled trades program at General Motors. Marie retired from Buick City as a Journeyman Electrician after over 20 years of service. She was a wildly creative artist, jewelry maker and florist.
Marie is survived by 3 children, Marjory (Gary) Burtch, Loraine (Mike) Ariss and Aaron (Angela) Dickie; 7 grandchildren, Jenna Dickie, Breanna Dickie, Kelly Dickie, Amber (Antonio Hilliard) Ariss, Nathanial (Angela) Ariss, Ashley (Jessica Kimble) Ariss and Ian Ariss; 3 great-grandchildren, Antonio Hilliard, Jr., Marqwone Hilliard and Amiyah Hilliard; 2 siblings, Clifford Swarthout, Jr. and Rosemary (Mark) Henry; brother-in-law, Russell Bensett; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Bensett and brother, James Swarthout.
