PEEL, Helen Agnes – of Burton, age 92, passed away May 10, 2016 at home under hospice care surrounded by family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, May 13 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, G-5199 Richfield Rd., Flint; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Burial will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Wednesday and Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison and 10-11 AM Friday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed 6:30 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PLAV (Polish Legion of American Veterans).
Helen was born in Flint, MI on July 27, 1923, daughter of the late Gazy and Mary (Yambrick) Carol. She married Cornelius “Neil” Peel on September 28, 1946 in Flint, MI. Helen’s life work was raising her family with love and laughter, they always came first and were the most important to her. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and loved card games, casinos and bingo. Helen especially enjoyed traveling across the USA and being up north at Crystal Lake.
Helen is survived by her husband, Cornelius “Neil”; children, Patricia (John) Cashin, Thomas (Donna) Peel, Christine McDonald, Marilyn (Mark) Sutton; 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Peel and nine siblings. The family would like to extend a special thank you to McLaren Hospice for their incredible care and support of Helen.
