Knoblock, Elmer F. "J.R." – of Flushing, age 82, died Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Maple Woods Manor in Clio. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, December 12, 2016, at Messiah Lutheran Church – 520 Butler St. in Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. Burial in Blumfield Township Cemetery in Reese. The family will receive visitors at the church on Sunday from 3-8 PM and Monday from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or Messiah Lutheran Church.
J.R. was born May 8, 1934, in Flint, Michigan to the late Elmer and Marie (Schultz) Knoblock. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1952 and later graduated from Michigan State University. J.R. was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the Army Band. He owned and operated Knoblock Hardware in Flint for most of his life. J.R. was also a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio where he was active with the Praise Band and Men's Chorus. He was also a former member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Flint and was a member of their bowling and basketball teams. He was a member and past president of the Burton Rotary Club, the Flint Master Singers, and the Flint Concert Band. J.R. enjoyed doing locksmith work, golfing, fly fishing and music.
Surviving are: Wife, Beverly; Daughter, Suzanne (Jeff) Roberts of Burton; 2 grandchildren; Sister, Ann (Joseph) Bysko. Please sign our guestbook or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com.
