SCHRAMM, Gorden- left this life to join the Lord on September 3, 2016, surrounded by his daughter, Tonya Taylor. Gorden was 77 years old born on December 22, 1938. Funeral arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Heaven has received another angel as the caring father and grandfather passes on.
Gorden graduated from Bendle High School 1958. During his high school career he was voted Most Athletic and made all state in baseball. It was because of this, the Detroit Tigers offered Gorden a chance to try out for their team. After high school, Gorden found his calling and began work in the masonry industry. His good work ethic along with the mastery of the art helped Gorden to own and operate his own masonry business. In his leisure time during his later years, he still included sports in his daily routine as he excelled in water skiing and enjoyed the occasional round of golf. Gorden also appreciated spending time with his children and friends as well.
Gorden was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Schramm, and his father, George Schramm. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Carl and Paul Schramm. Survivors include his loving sister, Elva Rinnert and his three children, Tonya Taylor, Rocky Schramm, and Tina McElhaney. Other survivors include his six grandchildren; Natasha Fowler, Taylor McElhaney, Breanna Schramm, Samantha Schramm, Chance Schramm, and Cody Belanger, along with one great-grandson, Jaxon Belanger. After his unfortunate medical diagnosis, Gordon made one final trip to visit all of his children in Arkansas. In his last years, daughter Tonya Taylor made the journey and fought the battle with her dad until the very end. Gorden will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, who are continuously researching to find new treatments and cures for the disease.
