SHRANK, Ronald C. – Of Grand Blanc, age 73. Passed away at his residence, surrounded by his wife and close friends, on February 14, 2019.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 9020 South Saginaw Road, Grand Blanc, The Reverends Don Davidson, Father Mike Carr, and Deacon Michael Spencer officiating.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mr. Shrank will be at the church from 12 noon Tuesday until the time of the service.
Ron was born in Cleveland, Ohio to parents John and Margaret Shrank.
Ron married Colleen (Murphy) on September 16, 1967 in Lansing.
He grew up in Lansing, MI and graduated from Western Michigan University.
Ron and his wife recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.
After 37 rewarding years working for the Genesee County Family Court, Ron retired. During retirement, he and Colleen enjoyed many years of world travel and their shared passion of sailing on Tawas Bay, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, and the North Channel of Georgian Bay.
A longtime member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Ron made many close friends and served as LEM, Senior Warden, and Church School Superintendent.
As a long time fencer, Ron was also involved for many years with the Genesee Fencing Club; he routinely competed at fencing meets around the state. Recently, Ron passed his skill and knowledge of fencing to his granddaughter, who began the sport he loved.
Ron is remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a devoted friend to many, and an adventurous spirit who “lived deep and sucked the marrow of life.” His wise and steadfast advice will be truly missed by all those who knew him.
Ron is survived by his wife, Colleen;
his son, Christopher and wife Julianne;
grandchildren, Caden and Robin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to the St. Christopher Episcopal Church, Grand Blanc. Donation envelopes are available at the church and funeral home.
