Doris (Doe-Doe) was born July 29, 1924 to Jay and Wilma Boyce; she lost both parents at the young age of 14. Doris was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Evelyn and Philip Schneider. She married our father, Henry Kellogg on December 23, 1944. Our mom was born in the Motor City – Flint, Michigan. In her earlier years during WWII, she worked at AC Spark Plug. After the War, she worked at Jonsey’s – a Davison hometown restaurant and helped at Kellogg’s Market. Being a military wife, she spent time overseas, California, Maryland and back to her home state of Michigan. In the late 60’s and early 70’s, she worked at Andrews Air Force Base Exchange. From 1976 to 1996, she worked for Lakeville School District. She loved every child who passed thru the hallways. Doris retired at the age of 72. Our mom loved to shop and shower all with gifts. She enjoyed Frankenmuth with friends and family. Many great hours were spent having coffee time with her Davison cronies at McDonalds. She was truly a hard worker, which she instilled into her kids. The greatest memories that will be missed which she gave to all was her smile, her infectious loving heart, her zest for life and her love for all. Our mom battled the last 13 years with Dementia/Alzheimer’s. She left memories and joy that are forever instilled in her son and daughter’s heart. OUR hearts will forever be filled with her love.
I am forever grateful for the care that my brother, Robin, provided daily thru the years. She leaves behind her husband, Henry; son, Robin; daughter, Candace “Candy”; brother, Don Schneider; sister, Beverly Coen; brother, Gerald Schneider; sister, Marjorie Davidson; in-law’s, Sophie Kellogg, Rollo Kellogg, Millie and Louie Kosbar, Betty and Ted Dipzinski; special friends, Nancy and Stephenie Dunlap; her nieces and nephews who she loved dearly; last but not least, long time hair dresser, Marge Bueche. Our mom was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marlene Henry. Our family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the nurses and caregivers of Genesys Hospice for the years of support, care and love for our mom and us.
