Berton M. Russell, age 82, of Lapeer, MI passed away at McLaren Lapeer Hospital May 31, 2024. Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 6, 2024, at The New Dawn Chapel, 1569 S. Elba Rd. Lapeer, MI. Family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1PM. Rev. Pastor Jared Nies officiating. Burial in Dawn Memorial Cemetery, Lapeer. Berton was joined in marriage to Linda Wells in Lapeer, MI September 10, 1966, was employed and retired from General Motors after 31 years. He was a mechanic and was always tinkering with his equipment and offering to help others with their own equipment. Berton was a big prankster, trying out get laughs and reactions out of friends and family. He and Linda owned a cottage Up North that they loved to go and vacation. Berton is survived by his wife Linda Russell, sons Berton (Jessica) Russell Jr., Randy (Cheryl) Russell, eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Sanford Maynard and Viola (Tank) Russell, brother Sanford and sister Carolynn. Donations may be made the Lapeer Elks Area Lodge, #2567, 200 E. Nepessing St. Lapeer, MI 48446.
