DRULEY, George William - Age 80, passed away with family by his side on Tuesday February 23, 2016. Funeral service will be held 1PM Thursday, March 3 2016 at the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 11AM until time of service on Thursday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions is Wounded Warriors or Veterans Organizations.
George was born October 25, 1935 in Flint, Michigan. He was the son of George and Nellie (McCrandel) Druley. He worked for the United States Post Office and attended G.M.I. before joining the U.S. Army in 1957. He was stationed in Germany and France. George married Phyllis Currie of Prescott, Michigan in 1960. After working for General Motors for 36 years, George retired in 1990 from G.M. Parts and Service in Swartz Creek as a heat and air conditioning skilled tradesman. He was a member of the UAW Local #659. Since 1966, he has been a member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church and served as trustee during the building of the new church. He served as vice president of the United Methodist men, member of the choir, and worked on the pasty committee. In 2000, George and Phyllis moved to the family farm in Prescott, Michigan, where George enjoyed playing on his big boy toys, mowing lawns and paths in the woods for Gatoring, gardening, watching wildlife, entertaining friends and family. He loved his family and enjoyed many memories with his two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jason.
Survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis. Daughter Tammy Druley Bubb and husband Jack Bubb of Saint Cloud, FL and daughter Corinn Smith of Clearwater, FL, granddaughter Kaitlyn Bubb of Dallas, Texas and grandson Jason Bubb of St. Cloud, FL, Uncle Bill McCrandel of Beaverton, MI and Aunt Gurnith Fisher of Fl. Several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Nellie Druley and his brother Barrie Druley.
