Kay M. Johnson age 68 of Byron, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Sparrow Hospital. A memorial service will take place 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Gaines United Methodist Church, 117 W. Clinton St. Gaines MI 48436. Nephew, Daryl Johnson will be officiating. Family will receive friends at the church from 10 AM-12 PM.
Kay Marie Killinger was born January 24, 1956 in Flint, MI a daughter of Duane and Helen (Koepf) Killinger. On November 2, 1974 she married the love of her life, Ed Johnson. Kay enjoyed cooking, canning, working in the garden, spending time with family and friends, and taking care of all the children in the neighborhood. She lined up referees for little league football games and umpires for little league baseball games. Throughout Kay's life she worked at Smeltzer's, Byron Supermarket, Dorff's Supermarket and Byron Schools as a custodian totaling over 15 years before becoming a full-time homemaker.
Kay is survived by her husband, Ed Johnson; children, Becky (Jon) Boillat, Brian (Jaime) Johnson, Chad (Jodi) Johnson and Jason (Lindsey) Johnson; grandchildren, Brennan, Katie, Sydney, Gracee, Mike, Evan, Liam, Lola, Thomas, Emmy and Max; sister, Kathy (Lynn) Gullekson; brothers, Duane Killinger and Dennis (Tracy) Killinger; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, "Doc" and Helen Killinger.
The family would like instead of contributions, to please enjoy going out with your family and loved ones. If a contribution is to be made in Kay's name, they suggest it go towards your local youth sports program.
