On Tuesday, March 17, Donald Harris Jr., our loving son passed away and went to be with his Grandparents and Uncle at the age of 54. Donald (nicknamed Duck by his Grandfather) was born on February 24, 1966. He graduated from Swartz Creek High School and was employed at General Motors prior to his illness. Donald was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 30 and with the help of Dr. Richard Trosch of Farmington Hills and PA-C Megan Lecureux of Flushing, fought the disease bravely until the end. Donald was a fan of both the Star Trek and Star Wars series. He traveled all over the United States attending Conventions, meeting many the series cast members and fellow “Trekkies”. Donald was also an avid collector Superhero toy memorabilia. He had a tremendous love for the Christmas season and was known for his incredible generosity and humor. Donald is survived by his parents Donald Sr. and Linda, his brother John and wife Beth, niece Victoria and her husband Zachary, niece Amanda and her fiancé Ryan, and nephew Andrew. The family wishes to thank the McLaren Hospice Team; Sara, Dawn, Tammy and Todd along with Jack Tucker for the care and friendship they provided Donald throughout his journey. A celebration of Don’s life will be scheduled at a future date. Donations can be made in his name to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation. |
