George Henry Lemieux, age 84 of Flushing, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018. He was born on March 20, 1933 in Flint to parents Eugene and Julia (Hall) Lemieux. George proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked at General Motors for over 30 years as a Benefits Planner. George was very active in several organizations: Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion #342, VFW Post 3087, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, and Knights of Columbus. George served as President for two of these organizations but was most proud of his work with the American Legion where he helped design a pavilion that was dedicated to him and his work. He also founded, owned and operated Fraternal Enterprises for 35 years. In addition to his time spent serving his community, George also enjoyed traveling, but his greatest love was his family. George is survived by his children: Dorothy (Robert) Lemieux, Cindy (Shawn) Lemieux Potter, Marie Lemieux, Michelle Lemieux Tachias, Theresa (David) Slinkard, Deborah (Larry) Lemieux King, Craig (Dianne) Lemieux; grandchildren: Tiffany (Marcus), Ashley (Lee), Scott (Megan), Rachel (Andrew), Brandon (Katie), Danielle, Travis, Kenzie, Gabrielle, Dominic, Tabatha (Gino) Sabrina (Corey) Samantha, Elizabeth (Charles), Jennifer (Zachary) Ross, Nicholas (Brittani), Kassandra, Kyle (Saverea), and Zachary; 15 great grandchildren; brother; Robert (Kathy) Lemieux; many nieces and nephews; close friends: Charlie (Cindy), Tom, and Danny. He was preceded in death by both parents; wife, Doris Lemieux; siblings: Gloria (Harold) Steiner, Arnold Lemieux, John E. (Helen) Lemieux, and Marjorie (Barney) Soltys. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at St. Robert Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St., Flushing. Father Anthony Brooks celebrating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 11am – 2pm and 4-8pm at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing. Rosary Service at 7pm on Wednesday. The family will receive visitors again on Thursday, one hour prior to Mass, beginning at 10am. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of George. |
