Klump, Cathryn E. (Davidek) of Flushing, age 84, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Louis Ekka will officiate. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of the Mass. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Robert Building Fund or Heartland Hospice.
Cathryn was born in Flint, Michigan on September 24, 1930, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Fogas) Davidek. She was a graduate of Beecher High School, Class of 1948. Cathryn worked at Bell Telephone from 1949, until her marriage to Donald Klump on July 17, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a past member of the Flushing Historical Society and was a long time member of the Sacred Heart and St. Robert Choirs. She was a former parishioner at St. Luke's Parish and an active member of St. Robert Catholic Church since 1971. Cathryn loved collecting antiques and had an extreme love of art, decorating and refinishing furniture. She enjoyed all genres of music, especially classical. Cathryn had a deep love and affection for her family and was proud of her role as a homemaker. Time spent with her family at their cabin on Higgins Lake were some of her most cherished memories.
Cathryn is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald; children, Tim and wife Diane Klump, Bethany and husband Tim Maurer, Amy Klump, all of Flushing; grandchildren, Bryan Klump, Matt and wife Amy Klump, Emily and husband Scott Herriman; great-grandsons, Benjamin, Jack, William; and sister, Marion Sekelsky. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Helen Szepanski.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Cathryn's outstanding caregivers, Cheryl, Berdette, Lois, Cammie, Pam, Mary, Leah; the staff of Heartland Hospice, especially Stacy; cousins, Bernie and Al Less; and lifetime friend, Kathryn Kohout for their constant love, support, and dedication. |
