Eleanor M. Arn of Flushing, age 96, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Grant Lobb will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Flushing Area Historical Society.
Eleanor was born in Rankin, MI on July 10, 1917, the daughter of Isreal Bird and Martha (Soule) Morey. She married John Elias “Pink” Arn in Flushing on May 11, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1991.
Eleanor retired in 1979 from the Michigan Secretary of State Office. She had previously worked as a beautician, bank clerk, and bookkeeper. Eleanor was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 176, the Ladies Oriental Shrine, El Said Court #28, and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Flushing V.F.W. Post #5666. She was a member of the Flushing Area Historical Society.
Eleanor is survived by: son, John and wife Ree Arn of Lapeer; daughter-in-law, Janice Arn of Grand Blanc; grandchildren, Tereesa and husband Bryan Smith of Velburg, Germany, Alyssa Arn of Baton Rouge, LA, Clayton Arn of Grand Blanc; great-grandchild, Michaela Smith of Velburg, Germany; numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Clayton Arn; grandson, John Ernest Arn; and a brother and sister. |
