ORVIS, Marie E. – of Clio, age 87, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Gross Assisted Living in Clio. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, March 10, 2017 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor LuAnn Rourke officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 12PM until 8PM and Friday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church or Heart to Heart Hospice.
Marie was born June 16, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to the late Edward and Nellie (Braden) Burnie. She married Richard G. Orvis October 18, 1975. He preceded her in death November 28, 1992. Marie was employed with Hamady’s, Borden’s Pharmacy, and Frankenmuth Travel. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Clio. Marie enjoyed traveling, bowling, watching NASCAR and Detroit Tigers Baseball. Above all, Marie loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are: Children: Thomas (Kathy) Thompson of Cicero, Indiana, Debbie (Raymond) Olsey of Clio, Dennis (Juanita) Thompson of Montrose, Denise (Ron) McMahon of Lebanon, Tennessee; Grandchildren: Michelle (Joe) Beers, Michael Olsey, Thomas Thompson (Fiancée Erin Provost), Edward Thompson, Marie Thompson, and Jami (Dan) Fugate; Great grandchildren: Edward Jr., Haley Rae, Olivia, Hannah, Abbie, Alex, Jadan, and Reese; Nephew, Larry Root; Special friends, Bernie and Betty Borden. Marie was also preceded in death by her brother, Otis Burnie; Sister, Jean Root; Niece, Janet Elgood. The family extends a special thank you to all the staff at Gross Assisted Living and Heart to Heart Hospice for all their tender love and care.
