Age 103 of Owosso passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Thursday November 14, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Dieudonne Ntakarutimana officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 3 pm until 8 pm, with a rosary being prayed at 7 pm.
Leola was born January 3, 1921 in Antrim Township, the daughter of Earl and Eva (Bowles) Geyer.
She graduated from Morrice High School.
Leola was a member at St. Paul Catholic Church and a member of Mother Seton Guild, the Altar Society, and The Perry Garden Club. She loved traveling, square dancing, knitting, gardening, Sunday family dinners, and always looked forward to beating someone in a game of cards. Most of all, Leola's life was full of family.
She married Francis Leo Scollon in Morrice on February 21, 1938. He later predeceased her in 1988.
Leola worked at Oldsmobile and later on Redmonds of Owosso. She retired from Ternstead of Flint after 30 years.
Leola is survived by her children, Francis Leo Scollon Jr. (Bonnie), Shirley (Wayne) Cushman, Dan (Rena) Scollon, and Sally (Roy) Thelen; daughter-in-law, Joann Scollon; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 16 great great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis Leo Scollon; parents, Earl and Eva Geyer; son, Larry Scollon Sr.; and granddaughter, Rebecca Scollon-Butts; brother Clifton (Karola Klete) Geyer; sister Wilma (Henry) Popler.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul Catholic School.
