HEGEL, James P. – age 83, passed away on August 17, 2016 from a long illness. A family Graveside service will be held on August 26, 2016 at 1 PM at Goodrich Cemetery. James was born on July 19, 1933 in Goodrich, Michigan to the late Earl and Opal (Kellogg) Hegel. James loved to be outside. As a child he learned the ways of farm life from his parents. He spent many hours outside working on the farm and hunting. He proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War as a flight mechanic. He was loving man, who will be missed by all who knew him. James is survived by his loving wife Marilyn Hegel of 62 years; daughters: Linda (Fred) Conklin, Sue Hegel, Beth Hegel; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother: Robert (Jane) Hegel; 2 nieces; 2 nephews; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and son: Steven Hegel. We wish to give thanks to the staff of Genesys Hospital for their excellent care of James Hegel.
