STEPHEN, Berneil J. “Bernie” – Of Flint, age 82, died Friday, April 17, 2015 at N.E.A. Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Don Dennis and Reverend Mona Huff co-officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, The National Alliance for Mental Illness or Www.prechterfund.org.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Berneil was born in Kennett, Missouri on March 11, 1933, the son of the late Jefferson and Bernice (Dees) Stephen.
He served his country in the U.S. Army.
On March 16, 1953 he married Verble Drope and they were married for 62 years.
Mr. Stephen retired from GM in 1983 and was a member of UAW Local #659.
Surviving are wife, Verble;
three children, Anneda Harris,
Jan (O.J.) Good and
Terry (Shelley) Stephen;
four grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren;
one brother, Larry Stephen;
two sisters, Joan Kubiak and Joyce Nolen.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Freddie Stephen.
