Cara Annabelle Smith, age 15, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Hurley Medical Center. She was born on February 7, 2002 in Garden City to parents Matthew and Lucinda (Wilson) Smith. Cara was many things: beautiful and compassionate, tough and gentle, sweet and sassy, funny and determined – but most of all, she was a lover. She loved not just her family, but her friends, teachers, doctors, and nurses. In fact, there wasn’t a person that she didn’t like. Cara’s love for people will continue beyond her passing, as she was a donor with the Gift of Life program, and has already helped many people. Cara was currently attending Atherton Jr/Sr High School as a 9th grader and was involved in the GSA and SLS groups. During school Cara most enjoyed choir, science and math. While she wasn’t in school, Cara loved listening to music, especially One Direction, Jason Aldean, and Maroon 5 (she thought Adam Levine was so very cute!). She clung on to being a little girl for quite a while but in the past two years had grown up so much – she had become a teenager! And as teenagers do, Cara loved to text her friends, talk on Skype, and spending time on Facebook. She loved the color green - and even chose to have her new room painted that way! Cara spent time watching the Detroit Tigers (she loved Justin Verlander!), playing badminton and basketball, and she recently discovered a new love in watercolor painting. Cara was a young girl who touched many, many hearts – she will be missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know her. Cara is survived by her parents, Matthew and Lucinda Smith; siblings: Hunter Smith, Melina Smith, Anthony Wright, Karisa Wright, Samantha Huffaker; grandparents: Glenn Smith, Roxanne and Brendon McNulty and Lucian and Carolyn Wilson; great grandmother, Darlene Feucht; aunts and uncles: Clarissa Hind, Ray Wilson, Ben and Jamie Smith, and Eamonn McNulty; best friend, Madison Crane; and her furry companion, Duchess. A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Valley Church of Christ, 4201 Lippincott Blvd., Burton, Pastor Jeff Switzer officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 1-4pm and 6-8pm at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, and again on Saturday at church, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2pm. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Cara’s family. |
