RUBEL, John (Jack) - Age 80, of Linden, died Sunday, February 28, 2016. He was at home surrounded by his family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3139 Hogarth Ave. Flint. Monsignor Richard Groshek celebrant. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Wednesday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM and at church Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Epilepsy Foundation.
Jack was born in January 29 1936 the son of James and Bertha Rubel. He married the love of his life Evelyn Brownrigg Rubel on April 12th 1958. He resided in Swartz Creek and Linden, Mi. Jack was a graduate of Flint Central High School and worked for Citizens Bank for 35 years retiring in 1998. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, dog trainer, and proud member of the NRA. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather,and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson Patrick John Badgley.
Jack is survived by his wife Evelyn (Brownrigg) Rubel; five children; Leeandra (Andy) and husband Tim Badgley of Linden. John Rubel of Chicago, Il, Matt Rubel & Krista Mayhew of Swartz Creek. Mike Rubel and wife Joy of Swartz Creek. Mary Winchester and husband Scott of San Diego, Ca. Jack loved his 11 grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Frederick Van Duyne and his nurses, Linda and Julie for their love and compassion over the years. Dr.Van Duyne has cared for our family for 58 years and did two home visits to say goodbye to Jack.
