WESSEL, Edythe L. – Of Grand Blanc, age 88, died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at her residence. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, 746 South Saginaw Street, Flint, Reverend Paul Ytterock officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service. Those desiring may make contributions to a charity of one’s choice. Visitation 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Wessel will be at the church from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the service. Mrs. Wessel was born in Muskegon, Michigan on August 12, 1922, daughter of the late Reverend George and Louise (Priebe) Johnston. On June 15, 1948 she married Reverend Grant Wessel in Flint. She attended Olivet Nazarene University and received her Master’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Wessel taught for over 20 ½ years in the Grand Blanc School System. Surviving are husband, Reverend Grant H.; two sons, Toby and Jon and wife Tracy; three grandchildren, Gilyon, Lorn and Grayson; many nieces, nephews; special friends; cats, Tippy and Tyler.
