SWANSON, Jeannine C. – Of Grand Blanc, age 80, died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Brookdale Memory Care.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church, 4040 Lapeer Road, Burton, Pastor Susan Lidums officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service and the cremains will be interred at Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
Visitation 9:30 a.m.– 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mrs. Swanson will be at the church from 2:30 p.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
Jeannine was born on April 19, 1935, the daughter of the late Axel and Mary (Hall) Johnson and was a resident of the Flint and Grand Blanc areas all of her life.
She married Wesley “Swede” Swanson, Jr. on April 21, 1956 and he preceded her in death in 2006. Jeannine graduated from Flint Technical High School Class of 1953.
She was a member of Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church for over 50 years.
Jeannine started her professional career at Genesee Bank in the Personnel Department until she left to raise her family.
Mrs. Swanson was employed by Mahar Tools for many years, retiring in 1992.
Surviving are children, Robert Swanson (Timi Kraemer) of Grand Blanc,
Carrie Swanson and fiancee’ Michelle D. Hoffmann of Grand Blanc;
three grandchildren, Kyle Sheppard, Mitchell Skiera and Mackenzie Skiera;
two brothers, William and wife Margaret Johnson of Lennon,
Jack and wife Nancy Johnson of Estero, Florida;
sister, Mary Margaret and husband John Shockey of Vancouver, Washington;
brother-in-law, Ken and wife Rose Swanson of Clinton Township;
sister-in-law, Pat Swanson of Flushing;
many nieces and nephews.
