McNEILL, Pearl M. – of Clio, age 90, died Monday, September 26, 2011 at her grandsons residence. Funeral services will be 1 PM Friday, September 30, 2011 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Pastor Darrel Manning officiating. Burial will be at Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1-8PM and Friday from 11 AM until time of services at 1 PM. Contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church.
Pearl was born February 22, 1921 in St. Louis, MI to the late Fred and Olive (Andrew) Beach. She has been a resident of Clio since 1946. She married Cecil McNeill in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1992. Mrs. McNeill was a member of the Goldie Ackerman’s Poetry Club, the Flint Area Writers Club, Fellowship Baptist Church, Clio Senior Center and the Red Hat Society. She went back to school and graduated from Clio High School Adult Ed and was a teacher’s assistant at Clio Alternative Ed School. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Surviving are: 5 children, John (Kitty) McNeill of Beaverton, Joyce Panek (Gill) of Clio, Robert “Dean” (Marilyn) McNeill of Roscommon, Dennis (Sharon) McNeill of Clio, Fred (Bernice) McNeill of Flint; 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; sister, Freda Jackson of Dundee; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: first husband, Basil Beck; sister, Virginia Mahon; daughter in law, Mary McNeill; son in law, Charles Panek; and a special friend, Joe French. The family extends a special thank you to Ken and Brenda Panek for the loving care they gave Grandma her last 31/2 years.
