Ernest Franklin Webb, age 99 years, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at his residence. He was born on May 31, 1920 in Neodesha, Kansas the son of the late Ernest L. and Minne (Lunkenbill) Webb. Ernest was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps as a Medical Corpsman. He was united in marriage to Veino “Anna” L. Symonds on October 11, 1942 and after 57 years together she preceded him in death on December 23, 1999. Ernest retired from the Flint Board of Education on January 1, 1981 as the Maintenance Supervisor. Upon retirement he and Veino sold their home and traveled the country in a motorhome. Ernest enjoyed traveling, baking bread, woodworking and riding his motorcycle.
Surviving family include his daughters, Patsy Wheeler, Judith Robertson, Geraldine (Dale) Clark and Jacqueline (Richard) Colosky; grandchildren, Bruce Wheeler Jr., Kevin (Melinda) Wheeler, Candy (Jeff) Ruby, Kimberly (Richard) Alpert, Kristi Miller, Timothy (Amanda) Clark, Jennifer (Mike) Grudnowski, Richard Colosky Jr. and Mitchel Colosky; 16 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ernest was preceded in death by his sons-in-law, Bruce Wheeler and Paul Robertson; and his siblings, Ethel, Myrtle, Harold, Nadine, Jim, Ella Mae and Vivian.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2019 at the Vassar Seventh-day Adventist Church, 5920 Frankenmuth Rd. in Vassar. Pastor Taylor D. Hinkle officiating. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 n. Main St. in Vassar. Burial with Military Honors under the auspices of the U.S. Army will be at Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris. Those desiring may make contributions to the Wishes of the Family.
