Robert D. Nelson of Flushing, age 84, died Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Medilodge of Montrose. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no services. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Home and Hospice Advantage.
Robert was born in Flint, MI on September 29, 1929, the son of Oscar E. and Lela B. (Glidden) Nelson. He married Patricia R. McCollum in Flushing on June 2, 1982. Mr. Nelson was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a GM retiree, a Committee Man for 46 years, and a member of U.A.W. Local 599. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Robert is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Craig and wife Lisa Nelson of Grand Blanc; four step-children, Michael and wife Karen of Flint, Patty and husband Mike of Missouri, Pam and husband David of North Carolina, Jimmy of Minnesota; two grandchildren, Jessica and Robert; six step-grandchildren; two brothers, Harland and wife Bernice Nelson of Millington, Dean and wife Evelyn Nelson of Clio; sister, Awanda Ishmael of Flint; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard and Carl; and son, Tommy.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff at Medilodge of Montrose and Hospice and Home Advantage. |
