TOPOREK, Frank L. – Of Flushing, age 88, died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 310 North Cherry Street, Flushing, Father Paul Schwermer officiating.
Mr. Toporek will be at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the Mass.
Visitation 12-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of Davison VFW Post #4087 Honor Guard.
Frank was born in Flint, Michigan on February 24, 1925.
He married Ida Graham in 1964.
Frank served on the U.S.S. Oakland, light cruiser in the U.S. Navy, in the South Pacific from 1942-1946. He received five Bronze Stars, plus other medals.
He was a life member of Davison VFW Post #4087; life member of Dom Polski and also the Croatian Club.
Mr. Toporek was a crane operator at AC Spark Plug Division for 15 years.
Surviving are wife, Ida;
daughters, Debra Niver and Julie McPhilimy;
son, Julius Toporek;
granddaughters, Nicole Simon and Chelsie McPhilimy;
great-grandson, Chance Niver.
