Fred L. Gillett “Freddie Blu”, age 79 of Lapeer, passed away in the comforts of his home on Saturday, June 21, 2014. He was born May 22, 1935 in Port Huron, MI to (the late) Fred E. and Pearl Warren Gillett. Freddie loyally served his country in the Untied States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in March of 1962. He retired from Fisher Body Coldwater Plant after 30 years of employment. He was an outstanding and very competitive golfer throughout the area, even into his mid 70’s. He was a member of the Lapeer Area Elks and the American Legion Post #16. Freddie enjoyed gardening and was an avid hunter. Freddie was a good friend to those that knew him and will be deeply missed by many.

Freddie is survived by his wife, Mary; 5 children, Judith McMaster, Teresa (Arthur) O’Hara, Frederick M. (Roxanna) Gillett, Patrick (Tanya) Gillett, Mary Jo Willbanks; 21 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; sister Nancy.

Preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer. Memorial donations to the charity of your choice are greatly appreciated.
