Stanley Patrick Jelinek
Age 80 of Ovid passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at his home.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael O'Brien and Father Dieudonne Ntakarutimana concelebrating. Stanley's final resting place will be at Middlebury Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Monday from 2pm to 8pm with a rosary being prayed at 7pm.
Stanley was born July 12, 1944 in Owosso, the son of Stanley and Mary (Dobbs) Jelinek.
He graduated from Owosso High School in the graduating class of 1963. Shortly after graduation Stanley enlisted and proudly served in the United States Army, After returning from Germany he took courses at Baker College where he had earned an associates degree in Business Administration.
Stanley was a past Moose and American Legion Laingsburg member, parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and enjoyed his family were he loved to cater any event , loved children and farming.
Stanley as a young child peddled produce and eventually opened his own store, Jelinek's Bro's Produce. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, Michigan State Spartans, Detroit Tigers and the Lions.
Stanley also found time to box which he was the lightweight Champion in Owosso as well as softball.
He married his sweetheart Marie Levitski in Owosso on July 17, 1986. She later predeceased him on July 3, 2015.
Stanley worked for the City of Owosso for several years, he worked 29 years in administration, along with 10 years for the DPW, Labor Relations Director, and Public Workers Director. He loved his hometown.
Stanley is survived by his first wife Sandy and children, William (Suzie) Levitski, Dawn (Raymond) Hutchinson, Stanley M. Jelinek, and Michelle Leigh (Doreen) Jelinek; grandchildren, Carman and Brendon; siblings, Joseph Jelinek, David Jelinek, Mary Ellen Birge; along with many other loving family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Jelinek, parents, Stanley and Mary Jelinek, brother, Donald Jelinek, sister Ann Marie Mason, grandson Jesse and niece Chloe.
The Family would like to thank Stanley's Memorial Healthcare team Becky, Cathy, Tom, Pat, Ruth, John, Stacey, Katie and caregiver Doreen for the wonderful care.
