Jimmy Duke Pierson, age 76, passed away on August 8th, 2024, in West Branch, MI. Jimmy was born in Goodrich, MI on July 5th, 1948, to George and Billie Jean (Burrow) Pierson. After graduating from high school, Jimmy joined the United States Army where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. After leaving the service he went to work for General Motors as a tier truck driver in Grand Blanc, retiring in 2006. Jimmy married Penny Johnson on March 30th, 1968. He and Penny moved to National City in 2006 where they made many family memories. Jimmy was a musician at heart. He played guitar and bass guitar. He was a member of the local American Legion Post 422 as well as the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4217.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Penny; children, Michael (Anne) Pierson of Midland, Shana Tucker of East Lansing; sister, Darla (John) Harvey of Flint; grandchildren, Kenneth (Kate), Jared, Koryna (Morgan), and Bailey; great grandchild, Penelope; many nieces and nephews, and his dog Scooby. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his brother Dwight Pierson.
Family will hold 2 Celebrations of Life for Jimmy. The first will be on August 24th, 2024, starting at 5:00 pm, at the American Legion in Hale, MI. The second will begin with a graveside service with Military Honors at the Greenwood Cemetery in Hadley, MI on September 21,2024 at 1:00 pm. The Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00pm at the American Legion in Davison, MI.
