Sherman "Skip" Clifford Davis
Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Sparrow Health Systems at the age of 71.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Saturday, February 4, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Michael O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Friday from 2pm to 8pm with a rosary prayed at 7pm.
Sherman was born December 10, 1945 in Owosso, the son of Chester and Flora (Garnett) Davis.
He graduated from Owosso High School and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Skip was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was involved with the choir boosters at Owosso High. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, wood working and bowling. He looked forward to time spent with family; especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Skip will be remembered for his kind, friendly personality. He never considered anyone a stranger and loved to meet new friends.
He married Sharon Didur in Owosso on May 8, 1965.
Skip retired from General Motors Flint Truck & Bus after 33 years of service working as a supervisor. He then spent 15 years at V.G.'s greeting everyone and anyone who came in the door with a hug, smile or hello!
Sherman is survived by his wife Sharon; daughters; Dawn (William) Davis-Dancer, Shawn Davis, Wendy (Rob) Cummings and Shannon Davis; brothers Jack (Betty) Davis and Bill (Cheryl) Davis; 3 grandchildren Addie and Will Dancer and Lily Michael-Davis; many nieces and nephews and many other loving family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister Pamela Eaton; and brother Thomas Davis.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul Catholic School or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
