NELSON, Clayton Floyd - Of Burton, age 91, died peacefully Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Pines of Burton Senior Memory Care.
Graveside service will be held 11am Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Flint Memorial Park, 9506 Dort Highway, Mt. Morris, Michigan.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Mr. Nelson was born in Flint on November 19, 1927, the son of the late Oscar Alvin and Mary Alice Nelson. He graduated from Flint Northern High School, Class of 1946. Clayton served in the United States Army from 1946-1947. He was a mail carrier for the United States Post Office, retiring in 1982 with 35 years of service. Clayton attended the former Bentley Wesleyan Church. His favorite past time was going to the casino.
Surviving are two daughters, Pamela (Kenneth Barry) Wood, and Deborah (Leonard Wayne) Bitterman;
7 grandchildren, Stormy Elliott, Jeff (Melissa) Wood, Stacy (Brian) Roach, Rainy (Roger) McClendon, Ryan (Anne) Bergeron, Jason Bitterman and Jeremy (Katie) Bitterman;
16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Gean, sister, Lorraine Tharp and brothers, Donald, Milton and Richard.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Diabetes’s Association or the Salvation Army.
