DUNKEL, Betty Lou – Of Grand Blanc, age 88, died Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Brookdale Memory Care.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Betty was born in Flint, Michigan on May 27, 1928, the daughter of
Kenneth and Evelyn (Sharland) Curtiss.
In her early years, Betty worked at her grandfather’s telephone company, when she met her husband of 70 years.
She taught Vacation Bible School for many years at Faith Lutheran Church.
Along with being a full-time homemaker, Betty was an avid gardener and had an article published in The Flint Journal about her beautiful rose gardens at her home in Grand Blanc.
Surviving are children, Rory (Marilyn) Dunkel,
Kim Dunkel,
Annette Dunkel,
Norma (Dave) Veselsky,
Brenda Helman,
Chris (Sharon) Dunkel and
Bill (Marcy) Dunkel;
many grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
brother, Arthur Curtiss and
sister, Margie Strong.
She was preceded in death by husband, Whitey; daughters, Sharon Goodman and Connie Bedgood; sister, Peggy Latozas.
