COKLEY, Laura Angel – of Burton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at home on the morning of October 14, 2016 after fighting a three-year courageous battle with breast cancer. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 6336 Roberta St., Burton; Rev. Fr. Joseph Kim and Rev. Fr. Carl Simon concelebrating. Entombment will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Sunday and 2-8 PM Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Monday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the church.
Laura Angel inspired many during her lifetime. She overcame many obstacles being born with special needs. She was always happy and never noticed the obstacles. Laura Angel was able to do this with a tremendous support system from her large family and many caring friends. She loved Zumba and her special Zumba teachers (Chrystal and Martha), The Delaney’s, celebrating birthday and all holidays, especially Halloween. Laura Angel enjoyed many football games in the Big House with her family. She loved her beautiful cat, Fluffy. She loved music and playing cards with her special friend Marie. Laura Angel was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and former member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Otisville. Those desiring may make contributions to the James & Desoline Cokley Family Fund through the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, where grants are used for the homeless and needy.
Laura Angel was the daughter of James and Desoline Cokley. She leaves behind siblings, William (Marites) Cokley, Linda (Randy) Leach, John (Michaelle) Cokley, Lisa (Kevin) Haas and James (Ellen) Cokley. She was very close to her nieces and nephews, William “BJ” (Danielle) Cokley, Matthew (Deepti) Leach, Marianne (Joshua) Graham, Mark Leach, Rourke and Heidi Haas, John and Kayden Cokley; great niece and nephews, William III, Kendayl, Ethan, Henry, Quentin and Theo Cokley and Vir Leach. The family wishes to thank Nurse Nancy of Reverence Home Health and Hospice and Dr. Chris Szyarto for their special care and kindness.
