Bernard J. “Bernie” Schirle
Age 69 of Chesaning passed away on Friday, August 03, 2012 at the Links of Edmore.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Michael O’Brien and Fr. Tom Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 to 8 pm and Monday from 2 to 8 pm with a rosary at 7pm and a 4th Degree Knight Service to follow.
Bernie was born November 17, 1942 in Owosso, the son of George and Frances (Schmidt) Schirle.
He graduated with the class of 1960 from St. Paul High School.
Bernie was a devoted Catholic who belonged to St. Margaret Mary of Edmore and a past member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. He was a 4th Degree Knight of the Owosso K of C. He was an avid golfer and life time member of the PGA of America. He enjoyed duck and pheasant hunting as well as fishing with his son and his friends. Bernie looked forward to time spent with family & friends; especially his grandchildren.
Bernie married Loraine Kline on August 25, 1967.
He was owner and operator of the Links of Edmore Golf Course.
Bernie is survived by his wife Loraine; children Marcia (Tim) Murphy, Dean (Jill) Schirle and Julie (Alan) Zubek; 5 grandchildren Taylor Murphy, Lyndsey Schirle, Eddie B. Murphy, Lauren Schirle and Drew Schirle; sister, Sr. Francis Mary (Donna Schirle).
He is predeceased by his parents, brother Phillip Schirle Sherman and sister Elizabeth Pelon and mentor Sam Molnar.
