Luce, Carl W. Jr, of Flushing, age 92, died Monday, April 2, 2018 at Pleasant View Care Facility in Corunna. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Jeanne Wisenbaugh will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral services. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee County Free Medical Clinic.
Carl was born in Flint, Michigan on July 10, 1925, the son of Carl and Lillian (Williams) Luce. He married Audrey Michell in Flint on August 26, 1947. After 65 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on January 19, 2013. Carl graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1943. He then went to U of M School of Pharmacy where he graduated in 1948 and worked as a Pharmacist. During his career, Carl owned three Drug Stores and had worked at several others. After his retirement, he worked part-time at Cherry Street Pharmacy. Carl was a member of the Flushing United Methodist Church. He was also a charter member of the Kiwanis Clubs in both Flint and Flushing. Carl worked at the Genesee County Free Medical Clinic for many years, receiving the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2007. He was an avid sports fan, especially U of M Football and the Detroit Tigers.
Carl is survived by his four children, Carl W. III and wife Peggy Luce of Corunna, Jeannine and husband Stanley Ring of Howell, Thomas Luce and husband Dev Singh of Portland, Oregon, Michael and wife Shari Luce of Oakley; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brother, Harry and wife Bev Luce; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
