JOSEPH, Helen E., age 96, of Flushing, passed away gently at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 6, 2019. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 at St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing, Michigan. Burial to follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 13 at Rossell Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service, and a 10-11 a.m. visitation at the church prior to the 11 a.m. Funeral Mass. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Helen was born in Flint, Michigan on September 19, 1922 to Norman and Delia (Kalil) Rashid. She attended All Saints Catholic School and graduated from Saint Michael Flint Catholic School in 1941. She married Sam Joseph on January 26, 1952 and retired from her role as Office Manager for 39 years at Prudential Insurance Company in Flint, Michigan. Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed her 95th birthday party in 2017 where she celebrated with her family. She has always had a strong faith and concern for others. Through her years of life she devoted time, love, and energy raising her grandchildren, helping her sisters and brothers, and mother through countless joys and challenges. Helen was a beautiful woman inside and out.
Helen is survived by her three devoted children, David (Suzanne) Joseph, Denise (Gregory) Jacob, and Ann (James) Holko; seven grandchildren, Ryan Joseph (Stephanie Hasiak), Anthony Jacob (Judith Durbovan), Gina (Terry) Glavin, Marta Joseph, Matthew (Allison) Joseph, Holly (Tim) Higgerson, and Jeffrey Holko; seven great-grandchildren Bella, Sydney, and Julian Joseph, Theodore and Hannah Higgerson, Samuel and Charlotte Joseph, and one on the way; and sister, Cecilia Abdella. She has many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, George, Philip and Edmund Rashead; sister, Agnes Torok; nieces, Arlene Rashid and Barbara Vukovich; and nephews, Philip and Michael Rashead.
