ETZEL, Pastor Lenhart Emil - of Flint, age 86, on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, was received into the glory of the Church Triumphant where he awaits the resurrection of us all. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church 402 South Ballenger Highway in Flint, Pastor Steven R. Maske officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Paul Lutheran School.Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. There will be no visitation taking place at Swartz Funeral Home. Lenhart Emil Etzel was born in Dearborn, Michigan on December 4, 1925. He received his elementary education in public schools in Michigan and graduated from Concordia College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He entered Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois, spent his vicarge year at Peace Lutheran Church in Detroit and graduated from the seminary in May, 1952. His first call was issued by the Mission Board of the Michigan District to start a Mission Congregation in Inskter. Pastor Etzel also served congregations in Athens and Dieterich-Wheeler, Illinois and Palestine, Texas. In 1990, he retired from St. Mark Lutheran Church in Brooklyn to serve Christ The King Church in Flint during his retirement. Since 1996, he had served as visitation pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flint. On Thanksgiving of 1950, Pastor Etzel married Barbara Watters in Springfield, Illinois. He is now rejoined with Barbara, who preceded him in death in May, 2006.Surviving Pastor Etzel are his 3 daughters, Luan and husband Paul Brandt of Flint, Tracy and David Hill of Louisville, Kentucky, Martha and husband Reverend J.R. Rees of Lexington, Illinois; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter. Your condolences may be shared with the family at www.swartzfuneralhomeinc.com |
