ELSTON, Kenneth E. – of Millington, age 79, also known as “Mr. Coffee,” passed away March 13, 2016 at his residence after a short battle with cancer. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Richfield Church of the Nazarene, 7524 E. Mt. Morris Rd., Otisville; Rev. Bill Acton officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 AM – 8 PM at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Wednesday at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Richfield Church of the Nazarene or Compassus Hospice.

Kenny was born in Olney, IL on May 21, 1936, son of the late Rev. Clarence L. and Imogene I. (Acton) Elston. He graduated from Davison High School in 1954, where he played basketball. Ken’s dad, Rev. Clarence Elston, was pastor of Richfield Church of the Nazarene. After graduation, Kenny worked for Al Lefler Gravel Company. He later owned his own gas station and convenience store from 1957-1967, which was located at the corner of Davison and Irish Road. Kenny married Jean Palmer on January 28, 1955 in Angola, Indiana. Around 1970, Ken began work for Holloway Sand & Gravel. He worked there for 25 years, retiring in 1994 after suffering a heart attack. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his friends. On December 18 1982, Ken then married Linda Bradley Warner in Davison.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda Elston; children, Rene Vanderplancke, Geneen (Dave) Smith, David (Becky) Elston, Bob Elston, Josh (Kim) Warner, John Warner and James (Brandy) Warner; grandchildren, Amy (Anthony “Rocky”) Hughes, Eric Vanderplancke, Jackie (Donald) Nastevski, Sylvana Bedelov, Branden Goff, Suzi Bedelov, Brandon (Jessica) Elston, Robbie Elston, Aleia Elston, Joshua Warner, Jr., Johnathan Warner, Felicia Warner, Krissy Knight and Kenny Knight, Darren Warner, James Kenneth Warner and Kali Warner; great-grandchildren, Mason Knight, Nico Vanderplancke, Nolan Hughes, Finn Hughes, Doneh Nastevski, Nikolena Nastevski and Natasa Bedelov; brother, Jack L. (Karen) Elston of Kentwood, MI. He was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence L. Elston, Jr. and Paul L. Elston. Kenny will be missed by special friends, John Olchalwa, John Beach, Gary Silverthorn, Roy Martinez, Diane Johnson, Bobby Curtis, Ed (Bonnie) Martin, Frank (Donna) Martin, June Warby and Bob (Bonnie) Oden.
